Welding methods and equipment for titanium plates and rods |
Due to the unique physical and chemical properties of titanium plates, rods, and tubes, their welding processes differ greatly from other metals. Titanium welding is a TiG welding process that effectively protects the welding area using inert argon gas. Before using argon gas, the factory certificate on the bottle body is checked to verify the purity index of the argon gas, and then the bottle valve is checked for signs of leakage or malfunction. When welding titanium plates and rods, it is necessary to ensure that: (1) The metal in the welding area is not contaminated by active gases N, 0, H, and harmful impurity elements C, Fe, Mn, etc. above 250 ℃. (2) Argon: Industrial grade pure argon, with a purity of not less than 99.98% and a water content of less than 50Mg/m3. (3) Unable to form coarse grain structure. (4) Cannot generate significant welding residual stress and deformation. Therefore, the welding process must follow the predetermined construction sequence, strictly follow the process quality management standards, and implement quality control throughout the entire process. This ensures that all factors such as human, machine, material, and method are in a good controlled state, thereby ensuring the welding quality of titanium pipes within a reasonable construction period. Titanium welding equipment and materials: Welding machine: DC TiG welding machine is used. The welding machine should ensure excellent working and regulating characteristics, and be equipped with intact ammeters and voltmeters. Welding torch: QS-75 °/500 water-cooled TiG welding torch is used. The welding torch should have the characteristics of simple structure, lightweight and durable, tight gun body, good insulation, stable airflow, firm tungsten holder, and suitable for welding in various positions. Argon gas delivery pipe; Use semi rigid plastic pipes instead of rubber hoses and other moisture absorbing materials. It should be used exclusively and should not be used in series with pipes transporting other gases. The argon gas pipe should not be too long to avoid unstable airflow caused by excessive pressure drop, generally not exceeding 30m. Welding fixture: Assemble titanium plates and accessories with austenitic stainless steel or copper pipe clamps, locking bolts, etc. It should be ensured that there is a certain clamping force on the titanium plate and accessories to ensure that the axis is consistent and the gap is uniform and appropriate. Auxiliary equipment and tools: argon protective cover, polishing machine, special file, stainless steel wire brush, etc. Titanium welding wire: The welding wire grade is ERTi-2, and the selection of welding wire should meet the following requirements: (1) The chemical composition and mechanical properties of the welding wire should be comparable to the base metal; (2) If the weldment requires high plasticity, welding wires with higher purity than the base material should be used. Before use, welding wires should undergo material re inspection, inspection of factory certificates and quality certificates; The surface of the welding wire should be clean and free from defects such as oxidation color, cracks, peeling, scars, and slag inclusions. |
